Japanese Outlet Shopping You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
KISARAZU CONCEPT STORE
MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU has hundreds of popular outlet shops, but the mall also offers a unique outlet shopping experience you won’t find anywhere else. Slightly separated from the rest of the mall, the KISARAZU CONCEPT STORE is a 3,000 m² standalone shop that looks like a trendy vintage shop crossed with a high-end boutique, but the products are mostly a selection of dead stock and irregular items from more than 120 brands. The aim is to fight fashion waste by giving each item a chance to shine, and the result is a “fashion theme park,” where apparel is arranged by color and theme and displayed on hand-me-down furniture from local shops. There are even funny mascots!
All of the items for sale at the KISARAZU CONCEPT STORE are new, but the way the shop is arranged makes each visit feel a little like a vintage treasure hunt, and with around 10,000 items available at any time, there’s certainly a lot to look through. Finger through the rack and search the shelves full of casual wear, sportswear, outdoor apparel, designer items, shoes, accessories, and even home goods. The shop also boasts a number of fitting rooms, including the “fitting studio” with rooms big enough for all your friends to come help you decide what to take home.
The KISARAZU CONCEPT STORE has a small entrance fee (300 yen), but that money actually goes to a handful of companies and organizations working with the shop to combat fashion waste and work on ways to recycle apparel and give it new life. Sometimes these companies and organizations even hold workshops in the Factory Lab area, so check the schedule when you visit! And on your way out, don’t forget to stop at the shop’s Open Cafe for a drink and snack made with imperfect produce.

▶︎ The KISARAZU CONCEPT STORE doesn’t currently offer tax-free shopping, but if you show your passport you can get a 10% discount instead!
Dining & Relaxation Near Tokyo Bay
Kaneko Hannosuke
The food court at MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU offers more than a dozen different dining options, but our favorite lunch recommendation is Kaneko Hannosuke. This local Tokyo chain specializes in ten-don, a rice bowl topped with fresh-fried tempura and a light glaze of sweet-savory sauce. Kaneko Hannosuke’s mouth-wateringly crunchy tempura bowls have helped the head shop, located in the Nihonbashi neighborhood of Tokyo, become so popular that lines form down the block. Here in Kisarazu, you can try the same glorious bowls of chic ten-don, with tempting tempura fried to a crisp in fragrant sesame oil and drizzled with their secret sauce, without the crazy wait. Order the classic Edomae Tendon to get all of the shop’s most popular tempura toppings, from conger eel to creamy soft-boiled eggs, and even shishito pepper. Or go for the Ooebi Tendon to get three truly impressive jumbo shrimp along with a small mountain of flavorful vegetable tempura.

Mother Farm Cafe & Soft Cream
For a sweet snack, go local and try a cone of the lusciously creamy soft-serve ice cream from Mother Farm Cafe & Soft Cream, a small offshoot shop of the nearby Mother Farm – an actual farm located just a little way down the Chiba coast from MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU, this cafe offers rich milky ice cream that can be ordered as a simple cone or in parfaits and other sweets. Their parfait-style soft-serve options are particularly popular, so the Japankuru team went ahead and ordered two. The standard NY Cheesecake Parfait comes with cheesecake, chocolate puffed rice, and silky milk pudding. The seasonal Matcha Warabi-mochi Parfait has an addictive bittersweet matcha flavor, with chewy bits of warabi-mochi and a dollop of sweet red beans!
Mother Farm Cafe & Soft Cream | Green Zone (“In Mall” Area) | 10:00 – 21:00
Ocean View Terrace
One of the benefits of shopping at MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU is the easy-going seaside resort atmosphere, so if you’re looking for a view of the water, you can head upstairs to relax on the Ocean View Terrace! Take a break among the green planters, and use the binoculars to look out at the Chiba landscape. The Japankuru team visited on a cloudy day, but when the weather’s clear, we hear you can see Mt. Fuji across the water!

There are convenient lockers for luggage storage all over the mall, but on weekends and holidays, you can ask the counter staff at the Service Lounge to store your luggage (including large suitcases) to make a stop at the mall much more convenient while traveling around Japan. If you buy so much it won’t even fit in your bags, then don’t worry – the mall is planning to open an international shipping counter soon, so you can send your new purchases home ahead of you.
