What pops into your mind when you think of Osaka? Many travelers dream of Dotonbori’s delicious food, Universal Studios Japan, or historic sites like Osaka Castle and Sumiyoshi Taisha. Of course, as the third most populated city in Japan, there’s a lot to do in Osaka, especially in the two major commercial areas: the refined Kita area focused around Umeda’s shopping and entertainment, and the casual Minami area with its cultural hubs around Namba and Shinsaibashi. Plan your trip to the Kansai region with this simple countdown – a list of the 17 best places to visit in Osaka!

A small island between the Umeda and Chuo areas, packed with attractions such as Nakanoshima Park, Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, Osaka Science Museum, the National Museum of Art in Osaka, and the Festival Tower.
16. Umeda Sky Building

This unique pair of skyscrapers has shops, restaurants, and a movie theater, but most people visit for the open-air Kuchu Teien Observatory. Situated 173m in the air, this observation deck offers a 360° view of the city!

11. Abeno Harukas
