Sooth your soul with a glimpse of some of Japan’s most beautiful scenery, like the colorful marshes that make up Goshikinuma. #SeeYouSoonJapan
Goshikinuma, Aizu, Fukushima
The marshes of Goshikinuma, also known as the Five Colored Marshes, are a popular destination thanks the deep, rich colors of the shallow waters. The network of marshes (called "numa" or 沼 in Japanese) were created as a result of a historic volcanic eruption of nearby Mount Bandai, and visitors now hike around the marshes and through the surrounding woods, or row out onto the water, to appreciate the serene beauty of the forest together with the vivid waters.
