Whether it's wagashi, pastries, or a new take on candy from overseas, Japanese sweets and snacks are in a league of their own. Some you may have known before coming to Japan, others you are just seeing for the first time and the cute colorful packaging grabbed your attention making you want to try some. Either way, buying Japanese snacks is a must while you are here. However, what are some essentials? You got Kit Kats, Pocky, Hi-Chew, matcha flavored anything, and the chocolate and cracker snacks that look like mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Something new has been introduced though, and although simple compared to the kawaii sweets of Japan, they are helping bring on the attraction to dried fruit here in Japan. This time, JAPANKURU is bringing you a new delicious snack that will be on sale October 15, 2018, STRAWBERRY CHOCOLATE
(1) they include whole strawberries dipped in high-quality chocolate, and (2) the packaging is ziplock so they stay longer.
Coming in an all red bag, these strawberries are dipped in white chocolate as you can see in the picture above. The thick chocolate layer is the same as the other flavors, but as soon as you pop one in your mouth it entered into the mouth, the white chocolate taste may be different to what you are used to. We believe it to be more creamy. Compared to the milk chocolate strawberries, the sweetness is probably the main characteristic.
Sales period: From October 15, 2018

The green bag is milk chocolate covered strawberries. This is a good choice for those who like the "classic" chocolate covered strawberries. We found a little bit of an extra crunch though which worked well with the chocolate and strawberry balance.
Sales period: From October 15, 2018
– 50g/bag
– Shelf life: 180 days
The custard chocolate flavor is a limited-time product that really does have the pure custard taste. The two chocolates introduced earlier are characterized by a slightly distinctive taste, but these specific strawberries are coated with the same custard used in a Haagen Dazs ice cream and Starbucks drink.
This one is particularly rare and our favorite, so if you are going to try any, we highly recommend trying this one!
Sales period: From October 15 to December 2018
– 50g/bag

or even as a little pick me up to get you through the week.
Where to Buy These Strawberries?
You can buy them at any famous drug store, supermarket etc all over Japan.
Although it depends on each store,
in many cases you can find them near other Japanese snacks, gum, and more.
One of the best places to get them in Don Quijote that way you can just throw them in your basket as you look around for more things you may want to buy.
